(Undated) -- Severe cases of liver damage in people taking dietary supplements are rising sharply. "The New York Times" says a national group of liver specialists did an analysis that shows dietary supplements now account for almost 20-percent of drug-related liver injuries treated in hospitals. That figure was seven-percent a decade ago. Supplements claiming to burn fat or speed up weight loss are some of the worst culprits. The researchers say a number of the severe liver cases from 2010 to 2012 involved young men who became sick from using bodybuilding supplements.
