(Washington, DC) -- The federal Labor Department is investigating two Major League Baseball teams for alleged wage law violations. The publication "FairWarning" received records through the Freedom of Information Act that show improper paying of interns could be at the heart of the latest investigation. In a separate case, the San Francisco Giants recently agreed to pay more than a half-million dollars in back wages to 74 employees. Those workers were paid 55-dollars a day, but were sometimes forced to work so many hours they didn't even earn minimum wage. Officials didn't comment on the details of the latest probe, but say the Miami Marlins and Giants are under investigation.
