(Sochi, Russia) -- Sidelined by an eye infection, Bob Costas has had to step down from his anchor role at the Sochi Winter Olympics but the veteran sports anchor is not short on support from the public.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest Thursday, Costas said he has been getting texts and e-mails through NBC publicity with all kind of offers to help him get well. Costas says physically he's fine but his condition is literally an eyesore for himself and viewers. He's says he's hoping to get back into action by the weekend. Costas has anchored coverage of every Olympic Games for NBC since 1992. In the last few days, he's had to lean on NBC colleague Matt Lauer to pinch-hit for him while he recovers.
