(Undated) -- Subzero temperatures are gripping much of the eastern United States, and up to nine inches of snow is expected to fall on the nation's capital. The federal government has a snow day today, and hundreds of thousands of federal workers are spending the day at home. States of emergency are in effect in New Jersey, Virginia, Delaware, Mississippi, and Tennessee. FlightAware.com is reporting that more than 600 flights have been canceled in and out of Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC.
