(Houston, TX) -- Crews are working to clean up an oil spill that has closed major shipping channels in Texas. An oil barge and a cargo ship collided in the Houston Ship Channel and spilled almost 170-thousand gallons of fuel oil on Saturday. The channels deliver crude to more than a tenth of the nation's refining capacity. The spill also forced the closure of the Intercoastal Waterway. Coast Guard officials say cleanup crews have pumped all remaining fuel oil from the barge and the channel will stay closed until "clean water is assured."
