(Undated) -- Lily Allen is among the many celebrities tweeting in reaction to the sudden death of fashion designer L'Wren Scott. The British singer-songwriter writes that she's "in shock" after hearing the news on Monday morning, claiming she ran into Scott "at the hairdresser's only the other day." Scott, who was the longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger, was reportedly found hanging from a doorknob in her Manhattan apartment. Many of L'Wren peers in the fashion industry are remembering the designer, including "Vogue" editor Anna Wintour, Marc Jacobs and Nina Garcia. Stars like Bette Midler, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Munn, Questlove and Maria Shriver are all tweeting their condolences as well.
Madonna released a statement about the loss, calling it "horrible and tragic." She said the designer was "always so generous with [her]." Madonna helped Scott's fashion line by wearing the black-and-white "Headmistress" dress from her 2006 debut collection.
