Lowe's To Pay Half-Million Dollars In Lead Paint Settlement

(Washington, DC) -- Lowe's Home Centers is paying a 500-thousand-dollar penalty for violating federal rules governing lead paint exposure. The EPA says Lowe's could not prove that some contractors it hired were certified by the agency or had used approved lead paint testing kits at work sites. As part of the settlement, Lowe's will implement a new compliance program at more than 17-hundred stores nationwide.
