(Medina, OH) -- The three young women at the heart of the headline-grabbing Cleveland kidnapping case are this year's winners of the Ohio Courage Awards. Governor John Kasich on Monday presented the awards to Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus , and Michelle Knight. Kasich praised the young women for their determination, perseverance, and said they are an inspiration to all Ohioans. They were kidnapped, separately, by one-time school bus driver Ariel Castro and held in his Cleveland house for a decade or longer. Castro committed suicide in prison last September, one month after he was sentenced to life plus a thousand years.
