(Cleveland, OH) -- An Ohio death-row inmate's request to donate a kidney to his mother is being rejected by the state, saying there wasn't enough time for transplant surgery before his scheduled execution. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections said it had given Ronald Phillips until this Sunday to undergo any transplant. The Governor previously postponed the execution to allow for the transplant. Phillips was convicted of the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl.
