(Cleveland, OH) -- An Ohio death-row inmate's request to donate a kidney to his mother is being rejected by the state. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections denied Ronald Phillips a bid to donate his organs, saying there wasn't enough time for transplant surgery before his scheduled execution. The department said it had given Phillips until this Sunday to undergo any transplant. Phillips, who was convicted of the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl, had his execution postponed by Governor John Kasich from last November to July 2nd to allow time for the organ donation.
