(San Antonio, TX) -- CPS Energy is confirming it had a million dollars in energy stolen last year. Utility officials tell KSAT there were around 900 energy thefts, mostly by people tampering with their meters. People caught stealing energy face hundreds of dollars in fines. CPS Energy says it will be a lot easier in the fall to prevent energy theft because so-called Smart Meters will start to appear in the coverage area.
