(San Antonio, TX) -- The San Antonio Water System is moving to abandon a massive project aimed at ending their dependence on the Edwards Aquifer Authority. The project would have brought in billions of gallons of water from outside the area. The "Express News" reports they're instead opting to increase their capacity for desalination. Officials say it would be cheaper in the short term because SAWS could phase in the project.
