(Seattle, WA) -- Today is World Hepatitis Day, and Dr. Robert Bilkoski at Abbott Labs says there's great news.
But Dr. Bilkoski says you have to get tested first to see if you have chronic viral hepatitis. If you're a baby boomer, you have a greater chance of that because of your generation's sometimes-promiscuous behavior earlier in life. About three-million Americans have chronic hepatitis C and about 300-thousand more will learn that they do during the next year. Hepatitis C causes liver damage that can lead to a variety of liver disorders, including cancer.
