(Washington, DC) -- Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin is calling for a resolution condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin for his military involvement in Ukraine. The Illinois Democrat told CNN's "State of the Union" the Senate should quickly pass such a resolution and make it clear that the U.S. will do everything it can to discourage further aggression. Durbin noted Putin's KGB background, comparing his tactics to those of a bully. Durbin said backing pro-democracy reforms in Ukraine can be accomplished through the International Monetary Fund and showing strong support for NATO's role in the region.
