(Washington, DC) -- The Senate plans to move forward on extending longterm unemployment benefits this week. A bipartisan Senate plan would extend aid for more than two-million Americans for several months. However, there is growing opposition in the Republican-led House. Last week, House Speaker John Boehner said it would be too difficult to provide the aid retroactively in a relatively short timeline. The Obama administration refutes Boehner's contention. Longterm jobless benefits expired in late December.
