(Undated) -- Texas lies right behind Oklahoma in the most expensive insurance payouts for natural disasters. In a year with no hurricane, paid claims related to natural disasters in the Lone Star State last year topped one-and-a-half billion dollars. The Insurance Information Institute also reports Texas generated the highest total of insurance claims from 2000 to 2013 in the nation at just under 17 billion dollars. Oklahoma's claims last year were close to two-billion dollars reflecting the devastation of killer tornadoes.
