(Undated) -- Texas is going big on border security. The state is now implementing a one-point-three-million dollar a week "border surge." The surge is aimed at cracking down on human and drug smuggling along the Texas border with Mexico. That will put more law enforcement officials and resources on the border. Texas is also preparing to deploy as many as one-thousand National Guard troops. Governor Rick Perry says the surge will help law enforcement focus on dangerous criminals who are taking advantage of the humanitarian crisis involving tens of thousands of migrant children.
