(Washington, DC) -- The U.S. is imposing more sanctions against Russia. The Obama administration accuses Russia of failing to take steps to reduce tensions in eastern Ukraine. The Treasury Department says the new sanctions will affect firms across key sectors of the Russian economy, including some big banks, energy and defense companies. The U.S. claims Russia has repeatedly violated Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, starting with the annexation of Crimea .
