More episodes of the hit biblical drama series “House of David” are on the way, as the incredibly popular series has officially been renewed for a third season on Prime Video.

The series, which has already drawn over 40 million viewers worldwide, chronicles King David’s life as a fugitive before taking Saul’s place as the next king of Israel.

“David’s journey comes full circle from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior, to his ultimate destiny as King. But before the throne, there is exile. David is a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies and live yet another dangerous lie. This chapter explores the true cost of destiny — the betrayals endured, the identities shed, and the sacrifices demanded of a hero before he can rise to the throne,” a description of season three states, Variety reported.

“House of David” originally premiered its first season in early 2025, followed by season two in Oct. of that year.

"We are incredibly grateful to fans around the world who have embraced House of David," creators and executive producers Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn said in a statement provided to The Christian Post.

Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, CEO of Wonder Project, said the renewal goes hand in hand with the company's goal of building long-running franchises centered on inspirational stories.

“At Wonder Project, we're committed to building enduring franchises rooted in timeless stories that inspire, entertain and bring audiences together," Merryman Hoogstraten said. "We're grateful to Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios for their continued partnership and shared belief in that vision, and we're excited to continue the journey with a third season of House of David."

Kara Smith, head of drama at Amazon MGM Studios, attributed the show's renewal for a third season to its global audience size.

"House of David has resonated with audiences around the world, bringing this timeless story to life with breathtaking scope and emotional authenticity," Smith said. "With millions of viewers captivated by the series, we are thrilled to continue this journey with our partners at Wonder Project for a third season."

The series stars Michael Iskander as the program's central character, David. Ali Suliman plays King Saul, Ayelet Zurer is Queen Ahinoam and Stephen Lang is Samuel the prophet. The supporting cast includes Indy Lewis, Yali Topol Margalith, Sam Otto, Oded Fehr, Davood Ghadami, Alexander Uloom, and Ashraf Barhom
