Churches can help “creasters” move from attending church services once or twice a year to faithful, serving church members. Perhaps they visited a church on Easter or Christmas because of their curiosity or because God was at work in their hearts.
Maundy Thursday reminds Christians that Jesus' final command to love and serve one another—despite our imperfections—calls us to embrace community, grace, and humble service as the heart of lasting faith beyond Easter.
Dear Roger, I grew up at Casas Church. I remember how you occasionally closed each service by asking the congregation to bow their heads and close their eyes. Could Judas Iscariot have changed his own destiny by choosing to ask for God's forgiveness like Peter did, instead of committing suicide? Or was he predestined to betray Jesus?
Scripture does not give directions about the format of seating or the use of a stage. We find no mention of a required carpet color or use of stained-glass windows. During the early days of the church, there were no chapels or cathedrals with steeples. That is because the Church is not a building.
Here are five habits of a discipled leader from Preston Poore's book Discipled Leader: Inspiration from a Fortune 500 Executive for Transforming Your Workplace by Pursuing Christ.
It is part of the pastor’s sacred mission to guide their people towards an atmosphere of understanding, comfort, and faith in order to prepare them to continuously live in a world that gives them very little of something they truly long for — peace.
