Joe Thomas

Joe Thomas

Joe’s journey in radio began at WPUT-am in Brewster, New York, where he honed his skills as an afternoon show host and newsroom stringer, covering notable stories like the Tawana Brawley case. Demonstrating his versatility, he took on additional responsibilities, such as running sports broadcasts for sister stations, which eventually led him to secure a major role at WRCN in the Nassau/Suffolk market. During his tenure there, Joe immersed himself in high-profile promotions, collaborating with renowned venues like Jones Beach Amphitheater and The Nassau Coliseum, showcasing his prowess in the industry.

His mornings came alive at WKOJ in Middletown, New York, where he furthered his promotional prowess by partnering with legendary concert promoter Sid Bernstein for the ‘Unofficial Woodstock 25th Anniversary’ event, contributing to the establishment of the Bethel Woods Music Conservatory. Joe’s journey continued through various notable destinations, including Hyannis, Massachusetts, Ocean City, Maryland, and State College, Pennsylvania. Notably, he provided solace and information to his listeners in Buffalo, New York during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. He also anchored morning news in Philadelphia and even did a brief stint with the radio station he grew up listening to, WNEW-fm in New York City!

Charlottesville became Joe’s home in 2007, where he found a passion for resurrecting a struggling station, infusing it with his promotional acumen and steadfast commitment to serving his audience. His experience navigating tumultuous times, such as the Brawley trial and the aftermath of 9/11, equipped him to guide both listeners and his station through challenging periods, including the turbulent summer of 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Today, fourteen years later, Joe continues to wake up every morning with a singular focus: serving each listener individually, adhering to his core broadcast principle that “No Matter How Many Listeners You Have, They Are ALL Listening One-at-a-Time.”
