MS NOW reported that FBI Director Kash Patel had landed in Russia for meetings, citing two sources familiar with the matter. There was one major problem: Patel was appearing at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Ken Dilanian subsequently corrected the report on air, acknowledging that Patel remained in the United States.
Larry O’Connor examines the original breaking coverage, the correction, and the questions surrounding the anonymous sources. Then, NBC revisits its questioning of Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed about social media posts discussing his family’s historical connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. Larry examines the follow-up interview and El-Sayed’s response.
