Heather Marie and Seth Michael Day, best-selling Christian authors from North Texas, were recently arrested for the alleged abuse of a teen girl.

According to CBS News, the couple was taken into custody by police in Keene, Texas, on Sept. 24 after receiving an outcry from a teacher concerning the physical abuse of their 14-year-old daughter. Upon investigation and forensic interviews, the child had been physically struck by Seth out of anger on Sept. 22, hitting her on the face and chest with her cell phone. CBS adds that the attack resulted in “visible lacerations and multiple bruises, which were documented by Keene police detectives.”

In October of 2022, the couple co-authored the relationship book "I’ll See You Tomorrow," published by Thomas Nelson. With a foreword by Beth Moore, the Days quickly rose to fame. Now, however, nearly four years later, they’re facing a different kind of notoriety: Heather has been charged with injury to a child (omission), while her husband Seth has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child and injury to a child.

Investigators have stated that because Heather was present during the abuse and did nothing to stop it this time and in previous cases, she’s being charged with omission. Fox 4 adds that Heather also attempted to “conceal the abuse by having the victim wear a face mask and telling medical professionals she did not know how the injuries happened.”

Since the report of abuse, the child has been taken to a children's advocacy center. While undergoing treatment and care for her injuries, the victim explained that Seth also sexually abused her numerous times, while Heather did nothing about it.

While the investigation remains ongoing, Seth has been placed on administrative leave pending its outcome. Seth was an assistant professor of psychology at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, and his wife, Heather, is an author, podcast host and former communications professor.

Fox 4 adds that the Days have since been released from jail after posting bond.
