Life knocks all of us down, but your story isn't over. Every Saturday, Dr. Joshua Novotny, a nurse practitioner and retired Air Force officer known to his patients as Dr. J, shares real stories and practical answers on health, hope and second chances.
Each week, Dr. J brings listeners inside the homes of the seniors he cares for and talks about what it really takes to age well at home. Topics include caring for aging parents, staying out of the hospital, managing chronic conditions, mental and emotional health, support for veterans, and the power of faith and prayer in healing. Along the way, he welcomes guests and shares stories of patients and neighbors making their own comebacks.
It's a show for seniors, the families who love them, and anyone who needs a reminder that it's never too late for a comeback.

About Dr. Joshua Novotny, DNP
Dr. Joshua Novotny has spent his life answering the call to serve. He began his 22-year Air Force career as an enlisted aviator flying on C-130s. Then a simple question changed everything: "What am I going to do when I grow up?" That question led him to nursing. He earned his degree through a competitive active-duty program at the University of Maryland, was commissioned as an officer and served at Brooke Army Medical Center and in Afghanistan.
While finishing his training as an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner, he began making home visits to San Antonio seniors who couldn't leave their homes. He saw a need that wasn't being met. After retiring from the Air Force, he founded HolistiCare Health Medical Group in 2024. The practice brings primary care, wound care, labs, X-rays and therapy services straight to seniors' homes, and treats every patient medically, mentally and spiritually.
He also founded WholeHome Concierge, one trusted call for house cleaning, pool and yard care, mobile auto care and more, so seniors can age in place with less stress. His mission is to turn a patient's home "into a church and a hospital." Ten to 20 percent of WholeHome's net profit supports the nonprofits he stewards, helping veterans, unhoused neighbors and people coming out of the justice system get a second chance.
Dr. Novotny is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a John Maxwell certified coach and the founder of a virtual prayer room where anyone can pray over homebound patients. He and his wife are members of Community Bible Church.
