Sheila K. Collins, PhD, is an organizational grief consultant, award-winning author, international speaker, and former professional dancer who has helped thousands of people turn grief into a genuine gift. A longtime social worker, therapist, and professor, she specializes in using expressive arts — movement, storytelling, improv, dance, and creative expression — to help people process loss, memorialize loved ones, and refocus their lives with courage and joy. After losing her son to AIDS and her daughter to breast cancer, Sheila channeled her pain into powerful books including the acclaimed memoir Warrior Mother: Fierce Love, Unbearable Loss and the Rituals That Heal and her newest release The Art of Grieving. Her guiding philosophy: “Whatever life hands you… pick it up and dance with it.”
